About: Anuradhapura is a historic city located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, approximately 205 kilometers north of the capital city of Colombo. It was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 4th century BC until the 11th century AD and is considered one of the most important cultural and religious centers in the country. The city is home to a vast complex of ancient ruins and temples, including the Sri Maha Bodhi, a sacred fig tree that is believed to have grown from a cutting of the original Bodhi tree under which the Buddha achieved enlightenment.
