It is commonly called `Mukunuwenna,` it is the most widely produced and consumed leafy vegetable in Sri Lanka. Mukunuwenna is one of our staple foods. It is considered a green vegetable, although it looks more like a herb. Sri Lankans believe that this vegetable contains high levels of vitamins, protein, and fiber and hence consume it several times per week. The Mukunuwenna plant is shredded finely and stir-fried with grated coconut and spices, to be eaten with rice.
